Manila-July 28, 2026: Today, the Young Christian Workers (YCW) of the Philippines had the opportunity to engage in an online dialogue with students from De La Salle University enrolled in the Theology course Faith Worth Living (LCFAITH). As part of their academic formation, the students interviewed Christine (Aya) and Andy of YCW Philippines together with Brian Geronimo, IYCW ASPAC Coordinator, to better understand the realities of workers in the Philippines, particularly the continuing issues of exploitation and contractualization.

SEE. Drawing from our organizing experience in Valenzuela and Caloocan, we shared the concrete realities of young workers who continue to face contractual employment, agency hiring, job insecurity, low wages, and limited labor protection. These are not merely statistics—they are the daily experiences of workers and their families who long for decent work and a life of dignity.

JUDGE. In the light of the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching, we reflected that work is not simply a means of earning a living but a participation in God's creative work. Every worker is created in the image and likeness of God and therefore deserves dignity, security of tenure, just wages, humane working conditions, and the freedom to organize. As YCW, we continue to affirm that the economy must serve people, never reduce them to instruments of profit.

ACT. This dialogue reminds us that transformation begins with awareness, reflection, and action. We hope that this encounter inspires these future professionals to become advocates of justice, solidarity, and the dignity of work in whatever vocation they embrace. As Young Christian Workers, we remain committed to accompanying, organizing, and forming young workers to become leaders who transform the world of work through the YCW method of See, Judge, and Act.
