Hello my name is Novita. I am 22 years old. I am an Indonesian migrant worker in Taiwan.

I work as a domestic worker here. I work in Taiwan because it is so hard to find a job in Indonesia, Specially during the pandemic.

Many of my friends in Indonesia become jobless. In Taiwan my main job is to take care of an elderly. She is about 80 years old.

Overall my Woking condition is good because I am lucky to get a good employer.

Working as a migrant workers abroad are like playing a gamble. If you lucky, then you will found a good employer. The one that will respect your rights as a worker.

But out there, many of my friends are not lucky as I am. Some of them being tortured physically and mentally by their employer.

Some are didn't get their wages as well. And then they don't know where they should go when they need help.

So some of them just accept the conditions even it's very bad. Because they don't have any options.

Speaking about pandemic and the situation in Taiwan, as I see the Taiwan government are really

trying the best to minimalized the covid cases by any means.

Like provide vaccination and tracing the mobility of the peoples.

For example, we have to scan the barcode everywhere we go.

Even to the traditional market.

So when someone infected by covid, all of the peoples and the government will know. That is to

make peoples aware.

At the end, I hope this pandemic will end soon.

Peoples become more aware about public health. And the most important, I hope Indonesian government will handled better the pandemic and protect the Indonesian migrant workers around the world.

Like giving social protection and health protection too
