Ciheulang – Bandung, Indonesia (February 24, 2025)
On Monday, February 24, 2025, the Ciheulang base group of YCW-Indonesia organized a counseling session on the socialization of the BPJS Employment Insurance Program for non-wage earners, specifically targeting informal workers. This initiative is part of the broader Social Solidarity Economy (SSE) program, aimed at ensuring that all informal workers within the Ciheulang base group are provided with employment insurance coverage.
The program seeks to enroll workers in three key types of insurance: work accident insurance, death benefits, and old-age security. The implementation of this initiative is expected to extend beyond Ciheulang, encompassing workers from Sancanga and surrounding areas, particularly those engaged in the agricultural, fisheries, small business, online motorcycle taxi, construction, and social work sectors.
The response from informal workers in Ciheulang and YCW-Indonesia has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong enthusiasm for joining the BPJS Employment program. As of now, 20 individuals have already expressed their commitment to registering. To facilitate the process, a dedicated leader from the YCW Ciheulang base group will act as a liaison with BPJS Employment in Bandung Regency. This individual will oversee the registration and management of participants in Ciheulang and neighboring communities, ensuring smooth coordination and access to benefits.
This initiative reflects YCW-Indonesia's ongoing commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of informal workers, emphasizing the importance of social protection and economic security. Through the SSE program, the organization aims to empower informal workers by providing access to essential employment insurance, reinforcing solidarity, and fostering a more secure and sustainable working environment for all.
