Learning from Europe: Building Inclusive and Community-Based Political MovementsMamoru Fujikawa, JOC Sapporo

$rows[judul]

The approach to political movements in Japan and Europe was different. In particular, events such as festivals were held to make it easier for young people to participate in demonstrations and forums, and the facilities used for forums were larger and more beautiful than those in Japan, designed to encourage people to gather not only for political movements but also as a community. I felt that Japan should also make more efforts to create community facilities and venues for political movements that are more accessible to young people.

The JOC Festival left a particularly strong impression on me. In Japan, demonstrations tend to end after the demonstration itself, but in Europe, demonstrations are organized as festivals to attract more people, which left a strong impression on me.

I was particularly impressed by the opportunity to listen to lectures by people from overseas human rights organizations at the forum and to express my opinions to French human rights organizations using a translation app.

I feel that the JOC's events and activities need a little more refinement.

For example, in the JOC's annual events and group work, I think it would be possible to hold meaningful group work and events with a small number of people by using computers, smartphones, books, and materials for group work meetings.

When I heard the lecture at the forum, I was convinced that they are using the internet and social media to incite the masses and build a loose form of dictatorship. Especially when I look at the Sanseito Party, the Democratic Party for the People, and the gubernatorial elections in Japan, I strongly feel that Japan is also moving toward dictatorship.

If  I were to send a message to young people in developing countries, I would say that the ultimate goal of expanding labor rights is to create a society that can sustainably provide stable incomes, a work-life balance, and an environment where people can live normal lives. To achieve this society, it is necessary to collaborate not only with labor unions but also with other organizations engaged in various activities. By doing so, I believe we can generate new ideas that have never been considered before and find solutions to problems that have remained unsolved until now.
