The Young Christian Workers (YCW) India successfully conducted its National Formation Session over three days, bringing together youth participants from various districts. The program focused on leadership development, social awareness, and spiritual formation, aiming to strengthen the commitment of young workers to the mission of YCW.
The session commenced on 17 April with participant registration coordinated by Aswin and Mugesh, followed by an introductory session led by Samuel. The formal inauguration included a symbolic lamp-lighting ceremony with representatives from each district. Participants then engaged in interactive self-introduction sessions facilitated by Prashanth Raj and Kumar, fostering openness and connection among attendees. The overall program agenda was presented by Felix, while committee formation was organized by Tamil Kavi and Lawrence, supported by technical guidance from Samuel.
A foundational session on the history of YCW was conducted by Kumar, Feivel, and Britto, providing participants with insights into the movement’s origins, mission, and core values. This was followed by a presentation of training objectives and expected outcomes by Samuel and Arjun, helping participants align their expectations with the goals of the formation. The first day concluded with a vibrant campfire and talent-sharing session, encouraging creativity, participation, and team bonding.
On 18 April, the day began with a recap session led by Benil, Kavish, and Frejin. A key session on leadership qualities was facilitated by Samuel and Sathish, emphasizing the development of responsible, confident, and service-oriented leaders. This was followed by a Gen Z self-awareness session conducted by Fr. Wilson, guiding participants to reflect on their identity, values, and personal growth.
Fr. Wilson also facilitated sessions on social analysis, enabling participants to critically examine current societal issues. A significant discussion on “Capitalist vs Worker Perspective” highlighted economic realities and reaffirmed the dignity of labour.
Participants were then engaged in group discussions on the theme “What Should We Do?”, coordinated by Fr. Wilson Vincent. These discussions led to practical and actionable ideas, which were later presented during the plenary session facilitated by Felix and Tamil Kavi. One of the key outcomes was the decision to conduct a National YCW Meeting monthly, scheduled for the first week of each month at 8:00 PM, to ensure continuity, coordination, and sustained engagement. The day concluded with the development of a concrete action plan led by Samuel and Kumar.

On 19 April, the program continued with a faith reflection session conducted by Fr. Wilson Vincent, strengthening the spiritual dimension of the formation. This was followed by an evaluation and closing session led by Prashanth Raj, where participants shared their reflections and feedback on the overall experience.
The program concluded with an outing organized by the team, providing participants with an opportunity for relaxation and strengthening interpersonal relationships.
Overall, the National Formation Session was well-coordinated and impactful. Each facilitator contributed effectively to nurturing young leaders who are committed to social responsibility, teamwork, and the mission of the Young Christian Workers movement.
