On Friday, February 23, 2024, Kifli conducted a field visit to the Philippines Young Christian Workers (PhilYCW) located in the bustling streets of Metro Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. Accompanying him were Joan, the national president, and the newly appointed national treasurer, with whom he engaged in a brief conversation.

During Kifli's visit, a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the financial report for the previous year, 2023, were carried out. At the same time, Kifli supervised the implementation of the PhilYCW Program, ensuring its effectiveness.

The field visit to PhilYCW involved the preparation of a detailed narrative report that focused on various key aspects. One of the main topics discussed was the issue of minimum wage, with a specific emphasis on the updated rates in different regions, particularly Metro Manila and Camarines Norte. The report shed light on the challenges faced by workers due to the minimal increase in wages, which often fell short of meeting their basic needs.

Furthermore, the report delved into the organization of target groups within the community. Joan provided an explanation of the process involved in organizing members, which included activities such as social inquiry, contact building, field missions, team building, and social activities. The report also touched upon the identification of potential beneficiaries in case the initial targets were not met.

A significant portion of the report focused on the success story of Raji Codenara, a security guard at LAWANG BATO in Valenzuela. Raji shared his personal journey of receiving support from PhilYCW, which had a transformative impact on his life and that of his family. Thanks to the assistance received, Raji was able to complete a vocational program through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and is now employed as an electrician.

Overall, the narrative report underscored the importance of community organizing, highlighted the challenges faced by workers in terms of wages, and showcased the positive outcomes that can be achieved through targeted support and empowerment initiatives. It emphasized the significance of ongoing advocacy efforts to ensure fair wages and improved livelihoods for workers within the community.

During the third day of the field mission in Valenzuela, valuable insights were gained into the working conditions and challenges faced by workers in various sectors. The team, consisting of Bryan, Jhoan, Christine, and the WSM (Kifli) representative, had the opportunity to engage with members of the community and gain a deeper understanding of their experiences.

The visit to Lawang Bato National High School provided an opportunity for the team to interact with individuals like Raji Codenara, who shared their stories and experiences as security guards and factory workers. It became apparent that many of these workers were employed on a contractual basis, facing uncertainties regarding job security, benefits, and wage deductions. The discussions highlighted the pressing need for better labor practices and fair treatment of workers in contractual positions.

The field mission also included a visit to the People Power monument on Edsa, where the team actively participated in the event "REMEMBER THE EDSA Uprising! FIGHT THE CHACHA!" This provided an opportunity to engage with the community and witness the collective efforts of individuals, particularly the youth, in advocating for change and social justice.

In conclusion, the field mission to Valenzuela served as a powerful catalyst for change. It highlighted the realities faced by workers in different industries and emphasized the significance of advocating for their rights and welfare. Through engagement, solidarity, and collective action, the team demonstrated the transformative potential of coming together to address labor issues. As the echoes of the field mission continue to resonate, may they inspire ongoing efforts to create a more equitable society where the dignity and well-being of all workers are upheld
