On October 25-29, 2024, Act Young Club -YCW Thailand had the honor of joining the Youth Camp 2024 at The Ka Boe Din village, Cheang Mai, Thailand, hosted by Asia Monitor Resource Centre (AMRC), along with Young people networks from Asia
This gathering provided an invaluable opportunity to share our activity, What we do, what happening in each countries such as Political, Labour right and Environment. We are inspired by the collective straight of young people at the Ka Boe Din village to fighting against a coal mining project, affecting the way of life, livelihoods, traditions, culture, and important natural resources of the community.
The community demands that the government remove the landfill area from the mineral master plan. The Department of Primary Industries and Mines, part of the Ministry of Industry, does not allow mining companies to come in and grant concessions again. Communities must have the power to manage their own land, housing, and natural resources. By decentralizing power and giving communities the right to truly manage their own areas, we create opportunities for growth and a good quality of life, including access to basic utilities, water, electricity, education, and transportation.
