On November 26, 2024, YCW Adelaide
hosted First Nations Youth Voices at the Minor Works Building, 22
Standford Ct, Adelaide SA 5000. The event brought together young people aged
14–35 for an engaging evening of listening, conversation, and reflection.
This gathering stemmed from the
Multicultural Festival held earlier in January, continuing YCW Adelaide’s
advocacy for solidarity with First Nations Peoples. The event aimed to raise
awareness and foster education among young people about the importance of
embracing cultural identity, fostering pride, and promoting justice for First
Nations communities.
A Night of Learning and Reflection
Facilitated by Ema and Raijeli Bovoro,
the program offered participants:
The evening included a dynamic Q&A
session and introduced participants to YCW’s Review of Life and Workers
Action (ROLWA) methodology, encouraging reflection and action on social
issues. Discussions sparked ideas for immediate actions to support First
Nations communities and strengthen solidarity.
Building Community
The event was attended both in person
and online, creating a space for new and familiar faces to connect. The energy
and commitment in the room were palpable as participants committed to
reconvening for a planning session the following week to develop actionable
steps for the future.

This event marks the beginning of a deeper journey of solidarity and advocacy
for First Nations Peoples.
